How to Study Efficiently
Studying can often feel like a chore and students generally do not look forward to it with positive anticipation. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Learning can be productive, fulfilling, and dynamic. And while instructors have a role in that learning experience, students should take ownership of their part.
Many elements contribute to an effective study session, but having a plan is key!
Three Elements of an Effective, Efficient Study Plan
- Have clear objectives of what you plan to accomplish.
- Break up your study time in smaller increments (30-45 minutes) to give your brain room to process information between subjects, topics, or classes.
- Engage your senses by using multiple intelligences and modalities of learning (e.g. visual, auditory, and kinesthetic strategies).
