How to Plan Effectively
Effective time management cannot be done without a tool be it a physical notebook, a digital app, or a hybrid of both. But purchasing a planner isn’t enough if you don’t know how to use it productively. Successful students plan frequently and are guided by what brings value and meaning to their lives. This kind of conscientiousness helps them avoid procrastination because they know what to anticipate and they have a game plan for success every day.
If planning regularly is new and overwhelming for you, identify something that you already habitually do on a weekly or daily basis and then stack time management planning on to it.
Here are some suggestions to stack regular planning on:
- Before you brush your teeth before bed, identify your top three priorities and when you will take care of them the next day.
- While you eat breakfast in the morning, decide what order you want to address your top tasks of the day.
- After you finish your last lecture, plan out the homework and studying for the rest of the day.
