How to Increase Study Focus

Just because most things in your life are on-demand (i.e. social media, food delivery, same-day-delivery shopping, entertainment, etc.), that doesn’t mean you have to be, too. Notifications, pings, and text messages are major time and focus thieves when we don’t know how to manage them properly.

While there are certainly other sources of distractions besides technology, removing your phone from your studies is the number one thing you can do today to start improving your focus.

Three Tips On How to Remove Your Phone

  • Turn your phone off and stow it away in your backpack or put it in another room to charge while you get into the productive zone.
  • If you’re worried that people won’t be able to reach you, let the ones that matter most know your study plans (e.g. text your mom you’re going silent for the next two hours so she doesn’t worry when you don’t answer).
  • Start small and grow from there. If turning your phone completely off is impossible, use your phone’s focus settings to limit the notifications and select who can reach you during your study time.
